The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) destroyed a huge quantity of vegetables cultivated with sewerage water by ploughing through 540 kanals of lands during an operation held throughout the province on Wednesday. On the directions of PFA Director General Noorul Amin Mengal, the food safety teams carried out the operation.

Additional Director General Operations Rafia Haider told the media that during the drive against contaminated vegetables, they destroyed contaminated vegetable crops of garlic, spinach, beetroot, spinach, cabbage and fenugreek by ploughing tractor over the fields. "The PFA will spare no one using sewerage water for vegetable cultivation in Punjab and the operation will continue till this practice is ended," she added.
